Following our hugely successful ‘Big British Birthday with The BBC Big Band’ event celebrating our 110th anniversary in 2016, we are delighted to announce a superb extravaganza, ‘The Ritz BBC Big Band Ball’ on Friday 22nd September 2017.
Champagne and Canapé Reception
The evening will begin at 7.00pm with a sumptuous Champagne and canapé reception in the stunning 18th century William Kent House, which adjoins The Ritz. During the reception, ‘The Wandering Hands’, a talented, energetic trio will perform a repertoire of playful and inventive songs from the last 60 years. Comprising of a saxophonist, guitarists and vocalists, their infectious enthusiasm will create an electrifying atmosphere, guaranteeing a thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining reception.
Four-Course Dinner with Matching Wines in the Michelin-Starred Ritz Restaurant
At 8.00pm, you will enjoy an impressive four-course dinner created by Executive Chef, John Williams MBE using the finest of seasonal British ingredients and accompanied with matching wines selected by Giovanni Ferlito, Head of Wine and Beverage, in the stunning Michelin-starred Ritz Restaurant. During your meal, Elle & The Pocket Belles, who perfectly embody the class and glamour of the Golden era will sing vintage swing and modern day classics with their unique twist.
Exclusive Performance from The BBC Big Band
At 10.30pm, the headline entertainment ‘The BBC Big Band’ will perform exclusively for you. You will enjoy a special performance from the internationally acclaimed BBC Big Band, consisting of 17 musicians playing trumpets, saxophones trombones, piano, bass, guitar, percussion and the drums. The singer on the night will be Iain Mackenzie, one of the most in demand lounge and big band singers in the UK.
The highly popular BBC Big Band has performed several times in the BBC Proms series at London’s Royal Albert Hall and at the BBC Proms in the Park and with the ‘Best of British’ including Van Morrison, Michael Ball and Madeline Bell as well as international stars such as Tony Bennett and Michael Bublé.
They will entertain you with classic songs such as Come Dance with Me, I Could Have Danced All Night, The Way You Look Tonight and Let’s Face the Music and Dance. The evening will offer you outstanding entertainment with music inspired by some of the giants of the twentieth century big band scene.
