Finance Director

Martin's career in the hospitality industry began age sixteen with a holiday job as a commis waiter in the Royal Bath Hotel in Bournemouth. After graduating from Bournemouth University with a degree in Hotel Management, followed by a spell in Geneva for the Movenpick organisation, he decided to pursue a career on the finance side of the industry.

Following training in the Group Company Secretaries Office of Trust Houses Forte and KPMG Peat Marwick in Sydney Australia, his first industry financial appointment was as Group Accountant for Mario and Franco Restaurants before taking up a position as Financial Controller / Company Secretary for Dukes Hotel. In 1989 Martin was appointed Chief Accountant for Cunard Hotels Ltd, a subsidiary of Trafalgar House PLC comprising The Ritz, The Stafford and Dukes hotels.

He was the Group Financial Controller to Compass Hotels prior to joining The Ritz as Finance Director in 2000. Martin is a Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants, a Fellow of the British Association of Hospitality Accountants and a Fellow of the Institute of Hospitality.
