Champagne Taittinger Dinner at The Ritz London

Wednesday 24th March 2010

We are delighted to present the first Champagne Dinner of 2010 at The Ritz London, together with the House of Taittinger.

Champagne Taittinger is one of the few Champagne Houses to remain owned and actively managed by the family. Today, Pierre Emmanuel Taittinger heads up this famous house whose origins date back to 1734.

In honour of this special occasion, our Executive Chef John Williams has created a remarkable four course menu cleverly matched with some of the finest offerings from Champagne Taittinger.

The Taittinger Dinner will be held on Wednesday 24th March in the magnificent 18th century surroundings of William Kent House, commencing with a Champagne and canapé reception in The Marie Antoinette Suite and followed by dinner in The Music Room.

Justin Llewelyn (UK Ambassador for Champagne Taittinger), will be on hand to advise how best to appreciate the differing styles of the wines which, combined with the culinary expertise of the Chef's menu, promises a unique and memorable dining experience.

Prices are £165 per person and places at this exclusive event are restricted. In order to avoid disappointment, immediate reservations are recommended.

For table reservations and booking information, please contact Natalie Jones in The Ritz Events Department by email at njones@theritzlondon.com or by telephone on +44 (0)20 7300 2223.

The Grand Young Lady of Piccadilly has had a Facelift!

The Ritz was the talk of the town last month when the legendary Piccadilly landmark underwent some very public cosmetic surgery!

Passers by watched as the Thomann-Hanry cherry picker started on Arlington Street, turning left down the Piccadilly facade and finishing up at the west facing Green Park end of the building, every day revealing more of the exterior in its original sandstone colour of yesteryear.

Despite the terrible weather conditions in February which included wind, rain, sleet and snow the dry cleaning process only took three weeks to complete.

The Grand Old Lady, resplendent in her true colours, has now become more of a glamorous young lady, and is looking very much at her best in time for spring and the year ahead.

Take your seats

Enjoy a three course pre theatre dinner served in The Ritz Restaurant, a glass of Champagne and a top price ticket to see Mrs Warren's Profession, starring Felicity Kendal at the Comedy Theatre for £85.

Mrs Warren’s daughter, Vivie, has never really known much about her mother. A prim young woman, she has enjoyed a comfortable upbringing, a Cambridge education, a generous monthly allowance and now has ambitions to go into Law. Is it conceivable that all this privilege and respectability has been financed from the proceeds of the oldest profession?

How will Vivie react when she finds out the awful truth about her mother’s ill-gotten gains? Shaw’s ultimate test of a mother-daughter relationship is one of his most witty and provocative plays.

"It is much my best play. Ah, when I wrote it, I had some nerve."
Bernard Shaw

"Felicity Kendal...superb, Lucy Briggs-Owen...brilliant. A Witty and gripping production of one of Shaw’s greatest plays."
Daily Telegraph

"Michael Rudman’s excellent revival"
Mail on Sunday

Royal Academy of Arts

     Reproduced by kind permission
of the Vincent van Gogh Foundation

Enjoy a three course luncheon and a glass of Champagne in the magnificent Ritz Restaurant and a VIP visit to the Van Gogh Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts, including a printed gallery guide, for just £53 per person.

From January 2010, the Royal Academy of Arts will stage a landmark exhibition of the work of Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890). The focus of the exhibition will be the artist’s remarkable correspondence. Over 35 original letters, rarely exhibited to the public due to their fragility, will be on display in the main galleries of Burlington House, together with around 65 paintings and 30 drawings that express the principal themes to be found within the correspondence. Thus the exhibition will offer a unique opportunity to gain an insight into the complex mind of Vincent van Gogh. This will be the first major Van Gogh exhibition in London for over forty years.

This offer is valid from 23rd January until 18th April 2010 and is subject to availability.

To find out more about the exhibition please visit www.royalacademy.org.uk.

To make a reservation please contact The Ritz Restaurant on +44 (0)20 7300 8765.

Thank you for your continued support. I would like to wish all mothers a very happy Mothering Sunday and hope they get a well deserved rest! Next month we will bring you more news, information and special programmes for the spring and summer, and I am looking forward to welcoming you to The Ritz very soon.
