The Ritz is getting a facelift

It's nearly 20 years since The Ritz has had any cosmetic work done to its exterior masonry and now, after an extensive deep clean, the 104 year old landmark building on Piccadilly is showing its true colours again!

Thomannn-Hanry Inc., developers of the 'Facade Gommage' system of masonry cleaning, will complete the hotel's three elevations on Arlington Street, Piccadilly and Green Park in the next few weeks, taking the Grade II star listed building back to its original sandstone and granite colourings. The award winning specialist company, noted for its restoration and preservation cleaning methods, counts the Place Vendome, the Chateau de Versaille and the Louvre Museum in France amongst its many prestigious clients.

Take a last look at how the hotel looks in January and be prepared for a surprise next month when we show a photograph of The Ritz, the grand young lady of Piccadilly, after her face lift. And if you don't believe it, come and pay us a visit and see for yourself!

Salon Sunday opening

Now open on Sundays for hairdressing and beauty treatments

The Ritz Salon, the hotel's best kept secret up on the seventh floor of the hotel, provides ladies' and gentlemen's hairdressing, bridal hair and make-up, manicure and pedicures, waxing, reflexology and an extensive range of health and beauty treatments from the Aromatherapy Associates product range.

Open from Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 7:00 pm and on Saturdays from 8:00 to 4:30 pm The Ritz Salon has now extended its opening times to include Sundays from 11:00 am to 4:00pm.

Champagne Taittinger Dinner at The Ritz London

Wednesday 24th March 2010

We are delighted to present the first Champagne Dinner of 2010 at The Ritz London, together with the House of Taittinger.

Champagne Taittinger is one of the few Champagne Houses to remain owned and actively managed by the family. Today, Pierre Emmanuel Taittinger heads up this famous house whose origins date back to 1734.

In honour of this special occasion, our Executive Chef John Williams has created a remarkable four course menu cleverly matched with some of the finest offerings from Champagne Taittinger.

The Taittinger Dinner will be held on Wednesday 24th March in the magnificent 18th century surroundings of William Kent House, commencing with a Champagne and canapé reception in the Marie Antoinette Suite and followed by dinner in The Music Room.

Justin Llewelyn (UK Ambassador for Champagne Taittinger), will be on hand to advise how best to appreciate the differing styles of the wines which, combined with the culinary expertise of the Chef's menu, promises a unique and memorable dining experience.

Royal Academy of Arts

Enjoy a three course luncheon and a glass of Champagne in the magnificent Ritz Restaurant and a VIP visit to the Van Gogh Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts, including a printed gallery guide, for just £53 per person.

From January 2010, the Royal Academy of Arts will stage a landmark exhibition of the work of Vincent van Gogh (1853–1890). The focus of the exhibition will be the artist’s remarkable correspondence. Over 35 original letters, rarely exhibited to the public due to their fragility, will be on display in the main galleries of Burlington House, together with around 65 paintings and 30 drawings that express the principal themes to be found within the correspondence. Thus the exhibition will offer a unique opportunity to gain an insight into the complex mind of Vincent van Gogh. This will be the first major Van Gogh exhibition in London for over forty years.
