Tosca at The Royal Albert Hall
Experience a thrilling night out at the theatre in luxury, with a 3 course pre-theatre dinner accompanied by a glass of Champagne served in The Ritz Restaurant and a ticket to see Tosca at The Royal Albert Hall from just £79.00 per person. Puccini's passionate tale of love and betrayal which returns to the Royal Albert Hall in February 2008. Directed by David Freeman with majestic designs by David Roger, Tosca is based on true events which unfolded in Rome during a period of great turmoil. Puccini put his heart and soul into this story of political intrigue and doomed love. A distinguished cast of soloists accompanied by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will be conducted by Peter Robinson. TEA AT THE RITZ is an institution in itself and we are proud to be a member of the Tea Council's prestigious Tea Guild. Served in the spectacular Palm Court, a choice of several varieties of tea, finely cut sandwiches, freshly baked scones, jam and clotted cream and a range of delicate pastries, combine to make for an unforgettable afternoon. Afternoon Tea is served daily at £37.00 per person with reservations required for sittings at 11:30 am, 1:30 pm, 3:30 pm, 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm. John Williams, Executive Chef at The Ritz London and Chairman of the Academy of Culinary Arts, receives an MBE in this year's New Year's Honours List for services to the hospitality industry. Williams' culinary career spans over three decades including an 18 year tenure with the Savoy Group before joining The Ritz as Executive Chef in 2004. A member of the Academy of Culinary Arts for the past 17 years, Williams was invested with a formal chair in 2001 and appointed Executive Chairman in 2004. He continues to work tirelessly to promote the education and training of young chefs and is the Committee Chairman for the Academy's Annual Awards of Excellence Culinary Skills discipline. In 2006 Williams was invited into the Worshipful Company of Cooks as a full Liveryman and in 2007 was presented with the Freedom of the City from Citizen and Cook of London. Delighted at the announcement of his MBE this week, Williams said "I feel deeply privileged and so very proud to have received such a prestigious award. While it is great honour to be recognized by ones peers in this way, I would also like to share it with all my colleagues in the hospitality industry that have made this possible".
